About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Universal Gratitude Journal Prompt Injector helps you cultivate a daily gratitude practice by providing thoughtfully curated prompts organized by category. Choose from Daily Gratitude, People Appreciation, Personal Growth, Positive Experiences, or List Templates (3 things, 5 things). Each prompt can be injected directly into your journal page as a formatted header, paragraph, or blockquote with automatic date and time stamping. The tool tracks your prompt history to avoid repetition, lets you favorite prompts for quick access, and supports custom prompts you can add and manage yourself. Sparkle icons and a heart motif reinforce the positive, appreciative nature of the practice.

WHERE IT RUNS

Works on any web page with editable content, including Obsidian, Notion, Roam Research, and general web-based journals. The script intelligently detects main content areas and contenteditable elements, ensuring smooth injection across major note-taking platforms and any page where you want to add a gratitude prompt.

HOW TO USE

A floating panel appears in the corner of your screen. Select a category from the dropdown menu and click "New Prompt" to generate a thoughtful gratitude question. The prompt appears in the panel with a preview, and you can click "Inject" to insert it into your page as a formatted element. Use "Copy" to copy the prompt text to your clipboard. Mark prompts as favorites using the star button, and access your prompt history to reuse previous questions. Enable "Auto-inject" to automatically generate and insert a prompt when the page loads. Add custom prompts to personalize your practice.

MECHANISM — SMART PROMPT HISTORY AVOIDANCE WITH CATEGORY FILTERING

The script maintains a local history of prompts you've used, storing up to 100 entries with timestamps and categories. When generating a new prompt, it filters out the last 20 used prompts from the current category, ensuring you get fresh questions each time. If all prompts have been used recently, the filter automatically falls back to the full pool. This history-based filtering runs entirely client-side, requiring no network calls. The system also supports favorites, which are stored separately and can be accessed as a dedicated category, giving you quick access to your most meaningful prompts.

THE PANEL

The floating panel is fully draggable and remembers its position per domain. Click the minimize button to collapse it to a small bubble, or press Escape to hide it. The panel automatically adjusts to different screen sizes and can be resized to show more content. All settings, including category preferences, format options, and auto-inject state, are saved per domain. The panel integrates smoothly with any page layout using the BGPanel framework, maintaining clean separation from page content.

PLEASE NOTE

This script requires the free BotGentz extension to run. It does not send any data to external servers; all processing, history, favorites, and settings remain entirely local to your browser using GM_setValue. The script never reads password fields, hidden inputs, or file inputs. It stores only prompt usage history and your configuration settings. Prompt data is embedded in the script and updated with new questions periodically. As websites change their structure, the content detection selectors may need updating. If the script stops detecting editable areas, use the "Inject" button to manually insert prompts.
