About this app

WHAT IT DOES

This tool helps WooCommerce store owners efficiently manage product categories in bulk directly from the WordPress admin interface. You can filter products by those with no category assigned, those with a specific existing category, or all products. The tool displays matching products in a scrollable list with their current categories, and allows you to select which products to modify. You can then add categories, remove categories, or replace all categories for the selected products. This is especially useful for store reorganizations, applying new category structures, bulk-removing obsolete categories, or ensuring all products are properly categorized for improved navigation and SEO.

WHERE IT RUNS

The script runs directly inside the WordPress admin interface on the WooCommerce products list page. It does not require a separate extension popup, background process, or external server. Everything happens within the page context, interacting with WordPress's DOM components. It works on the desktop version of WordPress Admin where WooCommerce is installed.

HOW TO USE

1. Navigate to your WooCommerce products page (WooCommerce > Products).

2. Open the BotGentz panel and select your filter:

- "All Products" to scan everything.

- "Uncategorized Only" to find products with no category assigned.

- "With Specific Category" to find products in a particular category (enter the category name).

3. Click "Scan Products" to start the process.

4. The script will scan your products, apply the filter, and display them in a list with their current categories.

5. Select the products you want to modify (all are checked by default).

6. Click "Apply Categories" to begin the bulk assignment process. The script will navigate to each product's edit page, update the category checkboxes, and save changes.

7. Use "Ignore Selected" to add products to an ignore list so they are not shown in future scans.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

Unlike WooCommerce's built-in bulk edit feature, this script operates purely on the public DOM of the WordPress admin interface. It identifies products using selectors like `.wp-list-table tr` or `.product-item` and extracts product IDs from `data-product-id`, `data-post-id`, or URL patterns like `post=` followed by a numeric ID. Product names are extracted from title elements, and categories from `.product-categories` or `.taxonomy-product_cat` elements. The script scrolls the products list programmatically and handles pagination by clicking "Load more" buttons when present. For category updates, it uses event-driven interaction: it clicks the product link to navigate to the edit page, finds the category section (`.taxonomy-product_cat` or `#product_cat`), updates each checkbox by checking or unchecking based on the desired category set, dispatches change events to trigger React/JavaScript state updates, and clicks the Save button. All actions include retry logic with spacing to account for WordPress's dynamic rendering.

THE PANEL

The tool appears as a draggable, resizable panel on the side of your screen. You can drag it to any position by clicking and holding the header, resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner, and collapse it to a small bubble when not in use. Press the Escape key to close the panel. The panel remembers its position and size per site so it stays where you left it on your next visit.

PLEASE NOTE

This script requires the free BotGentz extension to run. It does not store any personal data except for a list of ignored product IDs, which is saved locally in your browser using GM_setValue. No data is sent to any external server. WordPress and WooCommerce frequently update their admin interfaces, which may break the script. If you encounter issues, check for updates or contact support. Always double-check category changes before applying them. Use responsibly and respect your site's terms of service.
