WHAT IT DOES

Zoho Workplace Web App Switcher Enhancer reads the app navigation menu from your Zoho Workplace account and displays an enhanced app switcher overlay showing all available Zoho apps with quick access. The overlay displays app icons and labels for easy identification, with favorites highlighted in gold and the current app highlighted in green. A recent apps section shows the last five apps you've used, making it easy to jump back to frequently used applications. The extension tracks app usage history per session, storing which apps you've visited. Favorites can be configured to prioritize your most-used apps. The panel settings let you control overlay visibility, refresh the app list, manage favorites, toggle recent apps visibility, and adjust notification preferences.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on all Zoho pages at zoho.com and its subdomains, specifically on Workplace account pages where app navigation menus are displayed. It runs on the main account page, the app launcher page, the dashboard, and any page displaying app navigation. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access Zoho's servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension, then navigate to zoho.com and log in to your Workplace account. The extension automatically creates a floating app switcher overlay on the page. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The overlay shows all available apps, favorites, and recent apps. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the overlay with the latest app information. Enter favorite app IDs in the preferences section to highlight them. The "Show recent apps" toggle controls whether recent apps appear. Adjust the overlay transparency using the opacity dropdown (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). Click any app in the overlay to navigate to it. Drag the overlay by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the overlay with the × button.

APP NAVIGATION EXTRACTION WITH SESSION-BASED HISTORY TRACKING AND FAVORITE PRIORITIZATION

Unlike simple app launchers, this extension uses a multi-selector extraction engine to find app navigation items from Zoho's varying page structures. It searches for app items using multiple selector patterns (.app-nav-item, .app-icon, .nav-app) and falls back to text parsing. For each app, it extracts the label, link, and active status. App icons are mapped using a built-in database of common Zoho apps (Mail, CRM, Books, Inventory, People, Projects, Desk, Campaigns, Analytics, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meeting, Cliq, Connect, Creator). Session-based history tracking uses a unique session ID to store app usage history as an array of app IDs, limited to 20 entries. The favorites system allows users to specify app IDs that are displayed with a gold highlight. App usage history is updated when apps are clicked, showing recent apps in the overlay. The overlay displays apps in a compact grid with favorites marked for quick identification.

THE PANEL

The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on zoho.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, favorites list, recent apps visibility, and app history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. Zoho's website changes periodically, and app element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting app data until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, favorites list, recent apps preference, and session-based app history locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. App history is stored as an array of app IDs per session ID. The app list is based on apps visible on the page—the extension does not access Zoho's internal app data. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for zoho.com.
