WHAT IT DOES

Staples Web Rewards Balance Badge reads your Staples Rewards balance and tier status from your Staples account and displays a floating rewards badge on all pages. The badge shows your current rewards balance in dollars, membership tier, pending rewards, and expiration warnings. Rewards are color-coded—green for balances under $20 and gold for balances over $20. The extension tracks rewards history per month, storing each balance change with a timestamp. When rewards are expiring within 7 days, a desktop notification is triggered. The panel displays your current balance, tier, pending rewards, monthly history, and changes over time. The badge is fully draggable, resizable, and remembers its position, size, and opacity across sessions.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on all Staples pages at staples.com and its subdomains, specifically on account pages where rewards balance and tier status are displayed. It runs on the main account page, the rewards page, the checkout page, and any page displaying rewards information. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access Staples' servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension, then navigate to staples.com and log in to your account. The extension automatically creates a floating rewards badge on the page. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The badge shows your rewards balance, tier, and any pending rewards or expiration warnings. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the badge with the latest rewards information. The panel displays your current month's rewards history and changes over time. Adjust the overlay transparency using the opacity dropdown (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). The "Show expiry notifications" toggle controls desktop notifications when rewards are expiring within 7 days. Drag the badge by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the badge with the × button.

SELECTOR-BASED REWARDS EXTRACTION WITH MONTHLY HISTORY AND EXPIRY TRACKING

Unlike simple balance display tools, this extension uses a multi-selector extraction engine to find rewards balance, tier, pending rewards, and expiration information from Staples' varying page structures. It searches for balance using multiple selector patterns (.rewards-balance, .reward-points, .balance) and falls back to text parsing. Tier information is extracted using tier selector patterns. Pending rewards are detected using pending selectors. Expiration dates are parsed using date extraction regex on expiration-related elements. Monthly rewards history is stored as a key-value object where keys are year-month strings (YYYY-MM) and values are arrays of balance records with timestamps, limited to 20 entries per month. Expiration notifications are triggered when rewards expire within 7 days, with a once-per-day cooldown to prevent notification fatigue.

THE PANEL

The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on staples.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, notification preference, and monthly rewards history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. Staples' website changes periodically, and rewards element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting rewards data until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, notification preference, and monthly rewards history locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Rewards history is stored as a key-value object where keys are year-month strings and values are arrays of balance records. The rewards balance displayed is read from the page—the extension does not access Staples' internal rewards data. Always verify with Staples directly for the most accurate rewards information. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for staples.com.
