WHAT IT DOES

Airbnb Price Per Night Breakdown automatically detects the total price and number of nights on Airbnb listing pages and checkout screens, then calculates and displays a detailed price breakdown. The tool shows the total price, average per-night cost, base price per night (excluding fees), and individual fees like cleaning and service fees. This gives you a clear understanding of exactly what you are paying for each night, helping you compare listings more effectively and avoid surprises at checkout.

This extension works exclusively on Airbnb at www.airbnb.com. It functions on listing pages, booking pages, and checkout screens where price information is displayed. The tool works across all Airbnb regions and adapts to dynamically loaded price data.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension and navigate to any Airbnb listing or checkout page. A compact breakdown badge appears near the price display showing the total cost, per-night average, and fee breakdown. Use the overlay panel to customize the experience: toggle the breakdown badge on or off, choose whether to include the cleaning fee in the breakdown, choose whether to include the service fee, toggle the per-night price display, and select the badge position (Inline with price or Bottom-right corner). Click "Refresh Price" to manually update the breakdown after changing dates or loading new data.

TECHNICAL SECTION — PRICE DETECTION AND BREAKDOWN CALCULATION

The extension uses a multi-strategy detection engine to find price and fee information on Airbnb pages. It queries known selectors for total price (.total-price, .total-price-amount, [data-testid="total-price"]), nights (.nights, .night-count, [data-testid="nights"]), cleaning fee (.cleaning-fee, [data-testid="cleaning-fee"]), and service fee (.service-fee, [data-testid="service-fee"]). Currency symbols are extracted from the text and used for formatting. The base price per night is calculated by subtracting total fees from the total price and dividing by the number of nights. The badge is created using DOM manipulation with inline CSS, positioned either inline with the price display or as a fixed element in the corner, depending on user preference.

THE PANEL — DRAG / PER-SITE POSITION / SNAP / COLLAPSE / RESIZE / ESCAPE

The overlay panel is fully interactive and designed for seamless multitasking. Drag it anywhere on the screen using the handle at the top of the panel; the position is saved per site so it stays where you left it across sessions. The panel includes a snap-to-edge feature that gently anchors the overlay to the nearest screen edge when released. Click the collapse button to minimize the panel to a compact pill showing the current price status; expand it again with a single click. Resize the panel vertically by dragging the bottom-right corner to view more controls. Press the Escape key at any time to instantly close the overlay; it reappears on the next page navigation or refresh.

No personal data, browsing history, or booking data is stored, transmitted, or shared. Settings are stored locally in your browser using GM_setValue and are never sent to any external server. The extension does not access or store login credentials, financial data, or personally identifiable information. The tool reads price data visible on the page and does not access Airbnb's API or any private data. Airbnb may update its page structure; the extension includes multiple detection strategies to maintain compatibility, but major redesigns may temporarily affect price detection. The breakdown is an estimate based on visible data and may not capture all fees; always verify the final price at checkout.
