About this app

WHAT IT DOES

This userscript revolutionizes how you manage brand assets in Canva by enabling instant switching between multiple brand kits directly within the design editor. It allows you to save complete brand profiles including brand name, color palettes (up to 5 colors), font families, and logo references. With one click, you can apply a saved brand kit to your current design, automatically updating brand colors, fonts, and visual identity elements without navigating away from your work. The script also detects which brand kit is currently active in your design and displays a visual indicator, making it easy to track which brand identity is being used across multiple designs.

WHERE IT RUNS

The script activates on Canva's design editor pages (canva.com/design/*), including the main editor interface, template editor, and design creation workflows. It works alongside Canva's native brand kit functionality, adding a quick-switch panel that sits conveniently on the page for immediate access.

HOW TO USE

After installation, open any Canva design and the script adds a draggable panel with brand kit controls. To save a new brand kit, enter a name, select up to 5 colors using the color pickers, and optionally specify fonts. Click "+ Add Kit" to save it. Your saved kits appear in a list below. Click any kit to instantly apply it to your current design. Double-click a kit to set it as your default, which will auto-apply when you open new designs (if auto-apply is enabled). Use the export/import buttons to backup your brand kits or share them across devices. A keyboard shortcut (default: Ctrl+Shift+B) toggles the panel visibility.

THE ACTUAL REASON IT WORKS

Unlike relying on Canva's limited brand kit API, this script uses a combination of DOM observation and UI simulation to manage brand kits. It stores brand kit definitions locally using GM_setValue, allowing unlimited custom brand kits beyond Canva's built-in limits. When applying a kit, the script performs a multi-stage UI interaction: it first locates the brand kit selector in Canva's toolbar using data-testid attributes and class patterns, then simulates a click to open the dropdown. It then searches for the target brand name using a combination of exact match and substring matching across dropdown items, and simulates a click to apply it. This approach works without API keys, handles Canva's React-based UI, and provides instant feedback through the panel's visual indicators.

THE PANEL

The panel is fully draggable by its header and remembers its position across page loads using GM_setValue. It collapses to a small icon when minimized, preserving design workspace. Press Escape or click the × button to close the panel. The panel includes a live active brand indicator showing which kit is currently applied, a scrollable list of saved kits with color swatches and font information, and a form for adding new kits. Each kit item shows a visual preview of its colors and supports one-click switching, deletion, and default status assignment.

PLEASE NOTE

This userscript requires the free BotGentz extension to run. Canva periodically updates its interface, which may affect the auto-application of brand kits; we actively maintain the script for compatibility. The script stores brand kit data locally in your browser's userscript storage - it does not transmit any data to external servers. Brand kits exported as JSON files can be shared between devices but should be kept secure as they may contain brand assets. Auto-application requires the brand kit to be accessible in Canva's native brand kit dropdown; saved kits must match existing Canva brand kits by name for auto-apply to work consistently.
