WHERE IT RUNS

This tool operates as a userscript within the BotGentz extension framework, running directly in your browser on any website. It works on blog posts, news articles, research papers, product pages, and virtually any content you want to share. The tool integrates seamlessly into your workflow, appearing as a draggable panel that stays accessible as you browse and share content.

HOW TO USE

Click "Scan Page" to automatically extract the main content from the current page. The tool intelligently identifies the primary content area using semantic HTML patterns and structural markers. Alternatively, select text on the page before scanning to summarize only that portion. Configure your sharing settings: choose your target platform (Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Email, or General), select your preferred summary length (Short, Medium, or Detailed), and toggle the call-to-action option on or off. Click "Generate Summary" to send the content to the AI backend. Within moments, you'll receive a platform-optimized summary ready to share. Use the "Copy Summary" button to paste it directly into your social media app, email client, or messaging platform.

TECHNICAL OPERATION

Content Summarizer for Sharing employs a multi-strategy extraction pipeline that first checks for selected text, then attempts WebMCP (navigator.modelContext) when available—a W3C proposal for structured page content access—and falls back to DOM-based content detection using prioritized selectors for article containers, content areas, and semantic elements. The user's platform selection, length preference, and CTA toggle are encoded as system-level instructions in the prompt sent to the AI. The text is truncated to 8000 characters and transmitted via GM_xmlhttpRequest to the AI backend. The AI, specifically prompted as a skilled content curator, analyzes the content to identify the core message, key supporting points, and compelling angles. It then applies platform-specific optimization: Twitter summaries emphasize brevity and hooks, LinkedIn summaries highlight professional insights and value, email summaries focus on clarity and actionable information, and general summaries balance all elements for maximum flexibility. Each request is authenticated with a subscription key and counts against your monthly usage cap.

THE PANEL

The Content Summarizer for Sharing panel is fully draggable and remembers its position between sessions using GM_setValue. It snaps to the edge of the viewport for a clean interface and can be collapsed to a small icon when not in use. The panel is resizable to accommodate longer content. Press Escape to quickly close or collapse the panel. The design is optimized for productivity with a dark theme, clear visual hierarchy, and responsive controls that adapt to your workflow.
