WHAT IT DOES

Feature Announcement Summarizer is a productivity tool that instantly scans any webpage for product feature announcements, new feature descriptions, release highlights, and product updates. It automatically captures the product name, feature name, feature description, and any highlighted benefits or usage details. The AI then produces a clear, plain-language summary explaining what the feature does and why it matters to users. You can choose from three summary lengths: short (one sentence), medium (a paragraph), or detailed (full breakdown with context and implications). Once generated, you can review, copy, and paste the summary into release notes, internal communications, changelogs, or customer-facing documentation.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool operates as a panel within the BotGentz browser extension, available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave. It works on any webpage containing product documentation, release notes, blog posts, help center articles, or internal changelog systems. It does not require server-side processing; everything runs locally in your browser until the AI generation step, which uses a secure API connection.

HOW TO USE

Navigate to any page that contains a feature announcement or product update. Open the BotGentz extension and select Feature Announcement Summarizer from the tool menu. The panel will appear on the side of your browser window. Click the "Scan Page" button to analyze the current page content. The tool will highlight detected announcements and present a preview. Select your preferred summary length (short, medium, or detailed) and click "Generate Summary." Review the AI-generated summary, edit if needed, and click the copy button to save it to your clipboard. Paste the summary into your documentation, email, or communication platform.

TECHNICAL SECTION — SEMANTIC ANNOUNCEMENT PATTERN RECOGNITION

Unlike simple keyword extractors, this tool uses a multi-stage semantic pipeline. First, it parses the DOM and extracts text blocks with their structural context (headings, lists, emphasis, and adjacent content). Second, it applies a trained classifier that identifies announcement-like patterns based on syntactic cues (e.g., "now available," "introducing," "we're excited to announce") and structural markers (version numbers, dates, feature labels). Third, it clusters related sentences using contextual embeddings to group all content belonging to a single announcement. Fourth, it extracts named entities (product names, feature names, benefit phrases) using dependency parsing, which allows it to distinguish a feature's capabilities from its supporting context. Finally, it sends only the extracted, structured announcement data to the AI, not the full page HTML, enabling more precise and token-efficient summarization. This approach reduces hallucination by constraining the AI to the specific extracted facts.

THE PANEL

The side panel is designed for seamless integration into your browsing workflow. You can drag it to either side of the window, and it remembers your preferred position per website. It supports snap-to-edge behavior and can be collapsed to a small tab for minimal distraction. The panel is resizable horizontally and vertically, with a minimum width of 280px and maximum of 600px. Pressing the Escape key closes the panel. All settings are saved locally.

AI-generated replies are for assistance only and should be reviewed for accuracy before use, as they may occasionally misinterpret or omit details. Websites change their structure frequently, and announcement detection scripts may need periodic updates; we strive to keep the pattern library current. This tool does not store or transmit page content except for the extracted announcement data sent to the AI API; no browsing history or personal data is collected or retained. Subscription billing is monthly and can be canceled at any time.
