Flight Itinerary Summarizer extracts flight itinerary, booking details, or travel confirmation content from any page and uses advanced AI to generate a clear, organized summary of flight details including departure and arrival times, flight numbers, airlines, layovers, connections, and total travel duration. It makes it easy to reference your travel plans at a glance without scanning through a cluttered confirmation page.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool operates as a userscript within the BotGentz extension framework, running directly in your browser on any website. It works on airline booking pages, travel confirmation emails, and virtually any page with flight itinerary information. The tool integrates seamlessly into your workflow, appearing as a draggable panel that stays accessible as you manage travel plans.

HOW TO USE

Click "Scan Page" to automatically extract the itinerary content from the current page. The tool intelligently identifies flight details, airlines, times, and connections. Configure your summary settings: choose your preferred time format (Local Time, 24-hour, or 12-hour), toggle layover and total duration highlighting on or off, and toggle terminal and gate information inclusion on or off. Click "Summarize Flight" to send the content to the AI backend. Within moments, you'll receive a clear flight summary. Use the "Copy Summary" button to save it for travel reference.

TECHNICAL OPERATION

Flight Itinerary Summarizer employs a multi-strategy extraction pipeline that first checks for selected text, then attempts WebMCP (navigator.modelContext) when available—a W3C proposal for structured page content access—and falls back to DOM-based content detection using prioritized selectors for itinerary containers, flight sections, and content areas. The user's time format preference, layover highlighting setting, and terminal inclusion toggle are encoded as system-level instructions in the prompt sent to the AI. The text is truncated to 8000 characters and transmitted via GM_xmlhttpRequest to the AI backend. The AI, specifically prompted as a travel itinerary summarization specialist, identifies key elements including: airline names and flight numbers, departure and arrival airports with codes, scheduled departure and arrival times, layover airports and durations, total travel time including layovers, ticket confirmation numbers, and when available, terminal and gate assignments. It organizes this information in a clear, chronological format that highlights total duration and layovers, making it easy to understand the full journey at a glance. Each request is authenticated with a subscription key and counts against your monthly usage cap.

THE PANEL

The Flight Itinerary Summarizer panel is fully draggable and remembers its position between sessions using GM_setValue. It snaps to the edge of the viewport for a clean interface and can be collapsed to a small icon when not in use. The panel is resizable to accommodate longer content. Press Escape to quickly close or collapse the panel. The design is optimized for productivity with a dark theme, clear visual hierarchy, and responsive controls that adapt to your workflow.

AI-generated flight summaries are intended as aids for quick reference and should be reviewed for accuracy against the original itinerary. The tool may not capture all flight details, schedule changes, or special instructions. Always verify critical travel information directly with the airline or booking platform. No page data is stored or transmitted beyond the content you explicitly submit for summarization. All processing occurs through secure HTTPS connections, and your subscription key is never exposed to the page context.
