WHAT IT DOES

Listing Days-on-Market Badge automatically detects and displays the number of days a property has been listed on real estate websites. The extension scans property listing pages for listing dates using common selectors, date patterns, and relative time indicators like "listed 5 days ago." It calculates the exact number of days since the property was listed and displays it as a color-coded badge: green for recent listings (under 7 days), yellow for moderate (7-30 days), and red for older listings (over 30 days). Each individual listing also shows a small tooltip next to its price with the days-on-market count and a status label (Recent, Moderate, Older). This provides instant insight into how long properties have been sitting on the market—a key indicator of desirability and pricing strategy.

WHERE IT RUNS

The extension works on every website with real estate and property listings, including major real estate platforms like Zillow, Realtor.com, Redfin, Trulia, and countless others. It runs locally in your browser, scanning the page's DOM for listing dates without sending any data to external servers. The extension supports all major browsers and adapts to both desktop and mobile viewports seamlessly.

HOW TO USE

After installation, the extension automatically scans property listings on page load (if auto-scan is enabled). A floating badge appears showing the days-on-market for the first listing found, and each individual listing shows a small tooltip with its days-on-market count. To customize the experience, open the extension panel and set your color thresholds: Green threshold (days for recent listings) and Yellow threshold (days for moderate listings). Toggle "Show DOM badge" to show or hide the floating badge. Toggle "Auto-scan on page load" to enable or automatic scanning. Choose the badge position (Top-left, Top-right, Bottom-left, or Bottom-right). Select the date format (Auto, Always days, or Always date). For per-site customization, enable or disable the extension on specific websites using the per-site controls.

THE ACTUAL MECHANISM — MULTI-STRATEGY DATE DETECTION WITH COLOR-CODED DISPLAY

The extension uses a comprehensive date detection pipeline. It scans the page for listing dates using multiple strategies: selector-based detection (looking for elements with classes like .listing-date, .dom, .days-on-market, [itemprop="datePosted"]), pattern-based detection using regex (matching formats like "Listed on Jan 15, 2024", "Listed 5 days ago", "01/15/2024", "2024-01-15"), and relative time parsing ("new", "just listed", "recently listed"). When a date is found, the extension calculates the number of days since that date using the current date. The color-coded badge and tooltips use three thresholds: green (0 to greenThreshold days), yellow (greenThreshold to yellowThreshold days), and red (yellowThreshold+ days). All detection and calculation is performed client-side with no external API calls. The extension identifies listing containers by scanning for common listing classes (.listing, .property, .home, .listing-card, etc.) and associates each date with its container. Tooltips are inserted next to price elements within each container.

THE PANEL

The settings panel is a lightweight, draggable overlay that appears in the center of your screen. You can reposition it by clicking and dragging the title bar; release it near the screen edge and it will snap into place automatically. To collapse the panel into a compact title bar, click the minimize button, expanding it again with the same control. The panel is fully responsive, adapting to different screen resolutions with a minimum width of 300px and a maximum of 480px. Press the Escape key at any time to dismiss the panel without applying changes. All controls—the enable/disable toggle, scan & calculate button, clear results button, green and yellow threshold inputs, badge toggle, auto-scan toggle, position selector, date format selector, and per-site controls—are accessible within a clean, high-contrast interface that respects your system's color scheme.

This extension requires the free BotGentz companion extension to be installed and active, which provides the underlying DOM access and storage engine. The date detection relies on common real estate page structures and may not work on all sites—the extension works best on major real estate platforms. The days-on-market calculation is only as accurate as the listing date provided by the page. The color thresholds are configurable to match your preferences. No personal data, browsing history, or property information is ever collected, stored, or transmitted. All settings are saved using the browser's storage API and remain solely on your device. The extension does not inject ads, trackers, or analytics of any kind.
