WHAT IT DOES

Posture Check Reminder displays periodic reminders to check and correct your posture while sitting at the computer. A full-screen overlay appears at your configured interval (default 30 minutes) with a visual representation of good versus bad posture, a random posture tip, and options to "Sit Up" or "Snooze" the reminder. The tool helps you maintain healthy sitting habits, reduce back and neck strain, and increase body awareness during long work sessions. With customizable intervals, snooze durations, and visual diagrams, you can tailor the reminders to your personal workflow.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on any website across the entire web. It functions on work documents, coding environments, social media, news sites, and any page where you spend extended periods of time. The tool works across all domains and adapts to single-page applications and dynamically loaded content.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension and navigate to any website. A timer starts counting down to the next posture check. When the timer reaches zero, a full-screen overlay appears with a posture diagram showing good versus bad posture, a random tip, and two buttons. Click "Sit Up" to acknowledge the reminder — the overlay closes and the timer resets to the full interval. Click "Snooze" to dismiss the reminder and postpone it for the configured snooze duration (default 10 minutes). Use the overlay panel to configure the reminder interval (default 30 minutes), snooze duration, toggle the posture diagram on or off, and enable or disable notifications. Toggle the tool on or off for the current site, or click "Check Posture Now" to manually trigger a reminder at any time.

TECHNICAL SECTION — VISUAL POSTURE DIAGRAM AND REMINDER ENGINE

The extension uses a setInterval-based timer that ticks every second, decrementing a counter that tracks the remaining time until the next posture check. When the counter reaches zero, the extension triggers the posture reminder overlay. The overlay is constructed using DOM methods, creating a full-screen modal with a semi-transparent backdrop and a clean user interface. The visual posture diagram is rendered as an inline SVG that shows a stick figure in good posture (straight spine, shoulders back) compared to bad posture (slouched, hunched). The SVG uses green (#4ade80) for good posture and red (#f87171) for bad posture, with labels for each. The overlay also includes a random posture tip selected from a curated list of eight tips. The "Sit Up" button resets the timer to the full interval and dismisses the overlay, while the "Snooze" button sets the timer to the snooze duration and dismisses the overlay. Both actions clear and restart the timer.

THE PANEL — DRAG / PER-SITE POSITION / SNAP / COLLAPSE / RESIZE / ESCAPE

The overlay panel is fully interactive and designed for seamless multitasking. Drag it anywhere on the screen using the handle at the top of the panel; the position is saved per site so it stays where you left it across sessions. The panel includes a snap-to-edge feature that gently anchors the overlay to the nearest screen edge when released. Click the collapse button to minimize the panel to a compact pill showing the next check countdown; expand it again with a single click. Resize the panel vertically by dragging the bottom-right corner to view more controls. Press the Escape key at any time to instantly close the overlay; it reappears on the next page navigation or refresh.

This extension requires the free BotGentz companion extension to function, as it provides the underlying content script injection and cross-origin communication framework. No personal data, browsing history, or posture check data is stored, transmitted, or shared. Settings are stored locally in your browser using GM_setValue and are never sent to any external server. The extension does not access or store login credentials, financial data, or personally identifiable information. The posture tips are general recommendations and should not replace professional medical advice. If you experience persistent back or neck pain, consult a healthcare professional. The timer is based on real-time clock ticks and may drift slightly if the browser tab is backgrounded or the system is under heavy load. The overlay is a gentle reminder, not a strict enforcement tool — you can always dismiss it and continue browsing. Notifications require GM_notification support in your browser and may not work in all configurations.
