Each unit shows its size label, dimensions, price, and availability status—Available (green), Limited (yellow), or Unavailable (red). The best value unit (lowest price) is highlighted with a green border and a "Best value" badge. Preferred unit sizes can be set to appear first with a blue highlight. The extension tracks unit history per facility, storing each unit listing with a timestamp. The panel displays your current facility, available units with sizes and prices, and best value recommendation.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works on all Public Storage pages at publicstorage.com and its subdomains, specifically on facility pages where unit sizes and pricing are displayed. It runs on the main facility page, the unit selection page, the pricing page, and any page displaying storage unit information. The extension operates entirely within your browser and does not access Public Storage's servers directly—it reads only what is visible on the page you are viewing. It works alongside the free BotGentz extension, which provides the necessary scripting environment.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension, then navigate to publicstorage.com and search for a storage facility. The extension automatically creates a floating unit size guide overlay on the page. Click the extension's icon in your browser toolbar to open the settings panel. Use the "Show Overlay" / "Hide Overlay" button to toggle the badge visibility. The overlay shows all available units with sizes, dimensions, pricing, and status. Use the "Refresh" button to manually update the overlay with the latest unit information. Enter preferred unit sizes in the preferences section (e.g., 5x5, 5x10, 10x10, 10x15, 10x20) to have them appear first. The "Show pricing" toggle controls whether prices appear. Adjust the overlay transparency using the opacity dropdown (70%, 82%, 92%, or 100%). Drag the badge by clicking and holding anywhere inside it. Resize it by dragging the bottom-right corner. Close the badge with the × button.

UNIT DATA EXTRACTION WITH PRICE COMPARISON AND BEST VALUE DETECTION

Unlike simple listing display tools, this extension uses a multi-selector extraction engine to find unit items, sizes, dimensions, prices, and availability from Public Storage's varying page structures. It searches for unit items using multiple selector patterns (.unit-item, .size-option, .storage-unit) and falls back to text parsing. Prices are extracted from price selectors using number parsing. Dimensions are extracted from dimension selectors. Availability status is detected using status elements and keyword matching (available, limited, unavailable). The best value unit is identified by comparing all available unit prices. Preferred unit sizes are stored as an array and displayed first. Per-facility unit history is stored as a key-value object where keys are facility identifiers and values are arrays of unit records with timestamps, limited to 20 entries per facility.

THE PANEL

The panel supports drag-to-move anywhere on the page. It remembers its position per site, so it stays where you placed it on publicstorage.com. Click the panel header to collapse it down to just the minimized bubble, or click the expand handle to show the full panel. The panel can be resized by dragging the bottom-right corner. Press the Escape key to close the expanded panel and return to the minimized state. All panel settings, including position, size, collapsed state, opacity, preferred sizes, pricing visibility, and unit history, are saved per site and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to be installed and active, as it provides the underlying DOM injection and script execution environment. Public Storage's website changes periodically, and unit element structures, class names, and page layouts may be updated. When that happens, the extension may stop detecting unit data until an update is released. The extension stores your overlay position, size, opacity, visibility, preferred sizes, pricing preference, and unit history locally in your browser's storage using GM_setValue. Unit history is stored as a key-value object where keys are facility identifiers and values are arrays of unit records. The unit data displayed is read from the page—the extension does not access Public Storage's internal inventory data. Always verify with Public Storage directly for the most accurate unit availability and pricing information. No data is ever sent to any server, and no personal information is collected. You can clear all stored settings at any time by clearing your browser data for publicstorage.com.
