WHAT IT DOES

REI Co-op Web Class Schedule Overlay automatically scans REI product pages and event listings to extract comprehensive class and workshop schedule information including class dates, times, duration, instructor names, skill levels, and current availability. The tool displays a floating overlay panel that organizes upcoming classes in a clear, structured calendar view, making it easy to see what's available at a glance. You can filter classes by date range and skill level, and your preferred filter settings are saved across sessions. The panel shows availability status for each class with color-coded indicators: green for available, yellow for limited spots, and red for full, helping you prioritize your registration. Quick registration links are provided directly in the panel, so you can sign up for classes without navigating away from the page. A statistics section shows the total number of classes, available spots, limited availability classes, and full classes, along with a skill level breakdown to help you find the right class for your experience level.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension operates exclusively on rei.com domain pages that contain class or event content—specifically product pages, event listings, and workshop pages that display schedule information. It works alongside the free BotGentz companion extension, which provides the necessary DOM access and page interaction capabilities. The class schedule overlay runs entirely within your local browser instance and does not communicate with any external servers or APIs. All class extraction, filtering, and preference storage occurs on your machine, ensuring your browsing activity and schedule preferences remain private. It supports all modern Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) and Firefox when paired with the BotGentz bridge.

HOW TO USE

After installing both BotGentz and this class schedule overlay, simply navigate to any REI page that lists classes, workshops, or events. Within 1-2 seconds, a panel appears in the bottom-right corner displaying all extracted classes. The "Filters" section provides dropdowns for filtering by date range and skill level—select your preferences and the class list updates immediately. The "Classes" section lists each class with its name, type, date, time, duration, instructor, and skill level. Availability is clearly shown with color-coded status labels. Click the "Register →" button next to any class to open the registration page in a new tab. The "Stats" section shows an overview of all classes and their availability, while the skill level breakdown helps you identify which classes match your experience. Use the "Clear Filters" button to reset all filters and view all classes again. Your filter preferences are saved automatically and persist across browsing sessions.

CLASS SCHEDULE EXTRACTION MECHANISM

The class schedule overlay uses a multi-strategy extraction system to locate and parse class information from REI pages. It first attempts to find class containers using a comprehensive set of CSS selectors based on REI's typical page structure, including class names like "class-item," "event-item," "workshop-item," and "class-card." When these selectors fail due to site updates, the tool falls back to analyzing page elements that contain date or time attributes, as class listings typically include structured date information. For each detected class, the tool extracts the class name from title elements or heading text, extracts dates using pattern matching for common date formats (Month Day, Year; MM/DD/YYYY; etc.), and extracts times using pattern matching for time formats (HH:MM AM/PM). Instructor names are extracted by scanning for "Instructor:" or "Taught by:" labels, and skill levels are determined through keyword detection for "Beginner," "Intermediate," and "Advanced." Availability is determined by scanning for keywords like "Full," "Sold Out," "Limited," or "Few spots left." This layered approach ensures reliable extraction across different page layouts and class presentation formats.

THE PANEL

The class schedule overlay panel is a compact, functional overlay that integrates into the REI page. It can be dragged by clicking and holding the title bar, positioning the panel anywhere on the screen for optimal visibility while you browse classes. The panel includes a built-in snap feature that automatically aligns to the nearest screen edge when released within 48 pixels, keeping your workspace organized. Click the collapse arrow in the top-right corner to minimize the panel to a small icon bubble showing a gear emoji, preserving screen space while keeping the tool accessible. The panel is not resizable in this version, maintaining a consistent compact size that works on all screen resolutions. Press the Escape key to instantly hide the panel; press Escape again to restore it. All position, collapse state, date filter preferences, and skill level filter preferences are saved locally using GM_setValue and persist across browsing sessions.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz extension to function—the class schedule overlay does not work standalone. REI occasionally updates its page layouts and class presentation formats, which may temporarily affect class extraction accuracy. The tool extracts class data from the visible page content; if class schedules are loaded dynamically after page load, you may need to wait a moment for the panel to populate. Availability status is extracted from page text and may not update in real time—always verify availability on the official REI registration page. The tool does not store or transmit any data; all class data, filter preferences, and settings are processed and saved entirely within your browser.
