About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Steam Wishlist Price Drop Alert scans your Steam wishlist page to identify games that have experienced price drops. It extracts original and current prices, calculates both percentage and absolute discount differences, and displays a sortable list of all discounted games. The tool tracks price history over time, highlighting newly detected drops with a special notification section. A total savings counter shows how much money you could save by purchasing all discounted games on your wishlist. The tool helps gamers make informed purchasing decisions and never miss a sale on their most-wanted titles.

WHERE IT RUNS

This extension works exclusively on Steam wishlist pages at steamcommunity.com/id/*/wishlist*. It functions on both public and private wishlists, and works whether you are viewing your own wishlist or another user's public list. The tool integrates with Steam's page structure and handles the dynamic loading of wishlist items as you scroll.

HOW TO USE

Install the extension and navigate to your Steam wishlist page. The overlay panel appears automatically. Click "Scan for Price Drops" to analyze the current wishlist. The tool will display any newly detected price drops in a highlighted section at the top, followed by a complete list of all discounted games. Use the "Min discount %" filter to set a threshold — only games with discounts above this percentage will appear. Change the sort order using the dropdown: sort by percent discount (highest first), absolute dollar discount (highest first), or list order. The total savings counter updates automatically. Click any game in the list to open its Steam store page directly.

TECHNICAL SECTION — PRICE EXTRACTION AND HISTORY TRACKING

The extension employs a robust price extraction engine that parses Steam's wishlist DOM structure. It locates game name elements, price containers, and discount indicators using multiple selectors to handle Steam's periodic layout updates. The parser identifies struck-through original prices and current sale prices, calculating discount percentages when not explicitly displayed. For accurate price drop detection, the tool maintains a persistent price history database using GM_setValue, keyed by a normalized game name hash. Each scan compares current prices against stored values; any decrease triggers a "new drop" alert, with the drop amount and percentage displayed prominently. This historical tracking enables the tool to differentiate between long-standing discounts and fresh price reductions, providing more actionable intelligence than a simple one-time price check.

THE PANEL — DRAG / PER-SITE POSITION / SNAP / COLLAPSE / RESIZE / ESCAPE

The overlay panel is fully interactive and designed for seamless multitasking. Drag it anywhere on the screen using the handle at the top of the panel; the position is saved per site so it stays where you left it across sessions. The panel includes a snap-to-edge feature that gently anchors the overlay to the nearest screen edge when released. Click the collapse button to minimize the panel to a compact pill showing the number of discounted games found; expand it again with a single click. Resize the panel vertically by dragging the bottom-right corner to view more or fewer wishlist items. Press the Escape key at any time to instantly close the overlay; it reappears on the next page navigation or refresh.

PLEASE NOTE

This extension requires the free BotGentz companion extension to function, as it provides the underlying content script injection and cross-origin communication framework. No personal data, browsing history, wishlist contents, or price data is stored, transmitted, or shared. All price history is stored locally in your browser using GM_setValue and is never sent to any external server. The extension does not access or store login credentials, financial data, or personally identifiable information. Steam may update its wishlist page structure; the extension includes selector fallbacks to maintain compatibility, but major redesigns may temporarily affect scanning accuracy. The tool only reports price data visible on the wishlist page and does not perform automated purchases or transactions.
