WHAT IT DOES

Terms Change Summarizer extracts terms of service, privacy policies, or end-user license agreements from any page and uses advanced AI to compare versions, identifying and summarizing the key changes between them. It highlights any rights that have been removed or restricted, new obligations, changes to fees, data collection practices, or termination provisions, and explains the practical impact in plain language—so you know exactly what's changed without reading the entire document again.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool operates as a userscript within the BotGentz extension framework, running directly in your browser on any website. It works on terms of service pages, privacy policy updates, EULA documents, and virtually any legal agreement page with version history. The tool integrates seamlessly into your workflow, appearing as a draggable panel that stays accessible as you review policy updates.

HOW TO USE

Click "Scan Page" to automatically extract the terms or policy content from the current page. The tool intelligently identifies the legal document and finds version markers. Configure your analysis settings: choose your preferred summary depth (Brief, Standard, or Detailed), toggle rights removal highlighting on or off to see what you're losing, and toggle plain-language explanations on or off for practical impact summaries. Click "Analyze Changes" to send the content to the AI backend. Within moments, you'll receive a clear summary of the changes. Use the "Copy Analysis" button to save it for reference.

TECHNICAL OPERATION

Terms Change Summarizer employs a multi-strategy extraction pipeline that first checks for selected text, then attempts WebMCP (navigator.modelContext) when available—a W3C proposal for structured page content access—and falls back to DOM-based content detection using prioritized selectors for terms containers, policy sections, and content areas. The user's depth preference, rights removal highlighting, and plain-language explanation settings are encoded as system-level instructions in the prompt sent to the AI. The text is truncated to 8000 characters and transmitted via GM_xmlhttpRequest to the AI backend. The AI, specifically prompted as a legal document change analysis specialist, identifies version boundaries in the text, extracts substantive clauses from each version, and performs a comparative analysis. It identifies changes in: user rights and restrictions, fee structures, data collection and usage, termination conditions, governing law, liability limitations, and automatic renewal terms. Each change is categorized and explained with its practical impact, with removals and restrictions highlighted. The output presents changes in an organized, scannable format. Each request is authenticated with a subscription key and counts against your monthly usage cap.

THE PANEL

The Terms Change Summarizer panel is fully draggable and remembers its position between sessions using GM_setValue. It snaps to the edge of the viewport for a clean interface and can be collapsed to a small icon when not in use. The panel is resizable to accommodate longer content. Press Escape to quickly close or collapse the panel. The design is optimized for productivity with a dark theme, clear visual hierarchy, and responsive controls that adapt to your workflow.
