WHAT IT DOES

Alternative Product Suggester reads product descriptions, specifications, features, and pricing from a product page and uses AI to suggest alternative products that may better fit the shopper's needs. It extracts key product attributes: category, price, brand, key features, specifications, user ratings, and price range. It generates a short list of 3-5 alternative products with clear reasons why each might be a better choice—better value for money, different or better features, higher quality, a similar product at a lower price, or stronger customer reviews. The AI output is a concise, bulleted list of alternatives with clear reasoning to help you make a more informed purchase decision.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool runs as a userscript inside the BotGentz extension on any website. All page content is processed locally before being sent to the AI backend—no data is stored or shared beyond the current analysis request. It works on product detail pages, shopping pages, e-commerce sites, and any page with product information.

HOW TO USE

Navigate to any product page you are considering. Open the panel and click "Suggest Alternatives." The tool will scan the page for product information, specifications, pricing, and features, and send the extracted text to the AI for analysis. Within seconds, you'll receive a short list of alternative products with explanations of why each might be a better fit. Use the settings to customize the output: set the number of alternatives (3-5), include or exclude price and feature comparisons, and choose bullet points or plain text format.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

The tool uses smart content extraction to locate product information across diverse shopping pages. It scans for common product selectors (product, product-details, product-info, product-description, product-specs, product-features, price, brand, rating) and falls back to keyword-based detection (product, price, brand, feature, spec, description, details, model) when needed. It also captures specific attributes like price, brand, and user ratings. The extracted text is then sent to a dedicated AI backend that analyzes the product's category, price, features, and target use case, and generates alternative suggestions with reasoning. The AI is instructed to return a structured list under 1,024 tokens—no preamble, just the alternatives. The response is formatted as a clean bulleted list.

THE PANEL

The panel can be dragged anywhere on screen, snapped to the edge, resized, collapsed, and closed with Escape. It remembers its position per site and stays out of your way until you need it.

PLEASE NOTE

This tool requires the free BotGentz extension and an active AI subscription. The AI replies are generated and should be researched further before making purchasing decisions. Sites change frequently; if the tool stops working on a particular site, it may need updating. All data processing is local except for the AI request itself—no browsing data is collected or stored.
