About this app
WHAT IT DOES
Email Reply Requesting a Reference is a job search tool that analyzes job applications, reference request forms, and contact details from any webpage, then drafts a polite, professional email requesting a reference. It identifies the role or position being applied for, the reference recipient's details, and the context of the application, then generates a well-structured email that requests a reference, provides context about the position or opportunity, includes a brief reminder of the relationship or past work together, and mentions any deadline for submission. You can choose between a brief or detailed style, review the draft in the panel, edit it as needed, and copy it for use in your email client.
WHERE IT RUNS
This tool operates as a panel within the BotGentz browser extension, available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave. It works on any webpage displaying job applications, reference request forms, contact details, or similar professional networking communications. Common sources include job application portals, LinkedIn, professional networking platforms, and email clients.
HOW TO USE
Navigate to any page that displays a job application, reference request form, or contact details. Open the BotGentz extension and select Email Reply Requesting a Reference from the tool menu. The panel will appear on the side of your browser. Enter your full name and email address in the provided fields (these are stored locally for future use). Enter the reference recipient's name, the position you are applying for, and a brief reminder of your relationship (e.g., where you worked together). Optionally, enter a deadline for reference submission. Select your preferred style (brief or detailed) from the dropdown menu. Click the "Draft Request" button to analyze the current page content. The tool extracts the relevant application details and sends them along with your information to the AI for processing. Within moments, you will receive a polite, professional reference request email in the panel. Review the draft, make any edits directly in the panel, and click the copy button to save it to your clipboard for use in your email client.
TECHNICAL SECTION — JOB APPLICATION AND REFERENCE REQUEST EXTRACTION
This tool uses a specialized pipeline trained on job application and professional reference communication patterns. First, it performs a hierarchical DOM traversal that prioritizes content blocks containing job and reference indicators such as "job," "application," "reference," "recommendation," "position," "role," "career," "opportunity," "hire," and "candidate." Second, it extracts candidate passages using a context-aware sliding window that captures both the application data and surrounding structural markers (job titles, company names, application deadlines, reference instructions). Third, a trained classifier assigns each passage a probability score for being part of a job application or reference context using features like professional language frequency ("position," "responsibilities," "qualifications," "experience"), job title patterns, company references, and application instruction markers. Fourth, the system applies semantic clustering to group related content into four core categories: the role or position being applied for, the hiring organization or company, any application or reference instructions, and the deadline or timeline information. Finally, the structured clusters, combined with the user's provided information (name, email, recipient name, role, relationship, deadline, and style preference), are passed to the AI model with a constrained prompt that instructs it to generate a complete reference request with standardized sections (greeting, request for reference, role context, relationship reminder, deadline if applicable, and appreciation), reducing hallucination and ensuring a professional, contextually appropriate draft.
THE PANEL
The side panel is designed for seamless integration into your browsing workflow. You can drag it to either side of the window, and it remembers your preferred position per website. It supports snap-to-edge behavior and can be collapsed to a small tab for minimal distraction. The panel is resizable horizontally and vertically, with a minimum width of 280px and maximum of 600px. Pressing the Escape key closes the panel. All settings are saved locally.
PLEASE NOTE
This tool requires the free BotGentz extension and an active subscription to access the AI drafting feature. AI-generated reference requests are for assistance only and should be reviewed for accuracy and appropriateness before sending, as interpretations may occasionally miss role details or misread the relationship context. Websites change their application page formats frequently, and extraction scripts may need periodic updates; we strive to keep the pattern library current. This tool does not store or transmit page content except for the extracted text sent to the AI API; your personal information (name, email) is stored locally in your browser and is only sent to the AI as part of the draft generation. No browsing history or personal data is collected or retained. Subscription billing is monthly and can be canceled at any time.
