WHAT IT DOES

Nutrition Label Summarizer reads nutrition facts panels, nutritional information, and ingredient lists from food products, and uses AI to produce a concise, plain-language summary of the key nutritional information. It extracts key details: calories, macronutrients (protein, fat, carbohydrates), fiber, sugar, sodium, key vitamins and minerals, serving size, and notable ingredients. It provides a brief assessment of the nutritional profile (Healthy/Moderate/Less Healthy) and highlights any concerns like high sugar, sodium, or saturated fat. The AI output is a short bulleted summary focused on health and dietary considerations, helping you quickly understand what's in your food.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool runs as a userscript inside the BotGentz extension on any website. All page content is processed locally before being sent to the AI backend—no data is stored or shared beyond the current analysis request. It works on product detail pages, nutrition facts panels, ingredient lists, food labels, supplement facts, and grocery product pages.

HOW TO USE

Navigate to any product page that contains nutrition information—a food product, supplement, beverage, or grocery item. Open the panel and click "Summarize Nutrition." The tool will scan the page for nutrition content, nutritional tables, and label information, and send the extracted text to the AI for analysis. Within seconds, you'll receive a clear summary with key nutritional values, a health assessment, and any concerns flagged. Use the settings to customize the output: include or exclude vitamins/minerals and serving size, choose bullet points or plain text format, and select brief or detailed length.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

The tool uses smart content extraction to locate nutrition data across diverse product pages. It scans for common nutrition selectors (nutrition, nutrition-facts, nutrition-label, nutritional-info, product-details, serving-size, supplement-facts) and falls back to keyword-based detection (nutrition, calories, protein, fat, carbohydrate, fiber, sugar, sodium, serving, vitamin) when needed. It also captures nutrition tables and label text. The extracted text is then sent to a dedicated AI backend that identifies key nutritional values, flags concerns, and generates a health assessment. The AI is instructed to return a structured summary under 1,024 tokens—no preamble, just the nutrition analysis. The response is formatted as a clean bulleted list with assessments highlighted.

THE PANEL

The panel can be dragged anywhere on screen, snapped to the edge, resized, collapsed, and closed with Escape. It remembers its position per site and stays out of your way until you need it.

PLEASE NOTE

This tool requires the free BotGentz extension and an active AI subscription. The AI replies are generated and should be verified against the official nutrition label before making dietary decisions. Always consult a healthcare professional for health-related decisions. Sites change frequently; if the tool stops working on a particular site, it may need updating. All data processing is local except for the AI request itself—no browsing data is collected or stored.
