WHAT IT DOES

Product Ingredient Summarizer reads product ingredient lists, nutritional information, and label details from food, supplements, skincare, and cosmetic products, and uses AI to produce a concise summary of the ingredients. It identifies common allergens and irritants (milk, nuts, soy, gluten, fragrances, etc.), highlights active or beneficial ingredients (proteins, vitamins, antioxidants, active compounds), flags artificial additives, preservatives, or questionable ingredients, provides a plain-language explanation of what each key ingredient does, and gives an overall assessment (Good/Balanced/Poor) for the product's ingredient quality. The AI output is a short bulleted summary with a focus on health and safety.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool runs as a userscript inside the BotGentz extension on any website. All page content is processed locally before being sent to the AI backend—no data is stored or shared beyond the current analysis request. It works on product detail pages, label images, nutrition facts panels, ingredient lists, and supplement facts sections.

HOW TO USE

Navigate to any product page that contains ingredient information—a food item, supplement, skincare product, or cosmetic. Open the panel and click "Summarize Ingredients." The tool will scan the page for ingredient content, nutritional information, and label details, and send the extracted text to the AI for analysis. Within seconds, you'll receive a clear summary with key allergens, beneficial ingredients, safety flags, and an overall assessment. Use the settings to customize the output: include or exclude allergens, benefits, and safety flags, and choose bullet points or plain text format.

TECHNICAL MECHANISM

The tool uses smart content extraction to locate ingredient data across diverse product pages. It scans for common ingredient selectors (ingredients, ingredient-list, nutrition, nutrition-facts, product-details, supplement-facts, cosmetic-ingredients) and falls back to keyword-based detection (ingredient, nutrition, vitamin, mineral, protein, allergen, contains, supplement) when needed. It also captures nutrition tables and label text. The extracted text is then sent to a dedicated AI backend that identifies key ingredients, flags allergens and concerns, explains benefits, and generates an overall assessment. The AI is instructed to return a structured summary under 1,024 tokens—no preamble, just the ingredient analysis. The response is formatted as a clean bulleted list with assessments highlighted.

THE PANEL

The panel can be dragged anywhere on screen, snapped to the edge, resized, collapsed, and closed with Escape. It remembers its position per site and stays out of your way until you need it.

PLEASE NOTE

This tool requires the free BotGentz extension and an active AI subscription. The AI replies are generated and should be verified against the official product label before using or consuming any product. Always consult a healthcare professional for allergy or medical concerns. Sites change frequently; if the tool stops working on a particular site, it may need updating. All data processing is local except for the AI request itself—no browsing data is collected or stored.
