It identifies the contact's name, role, company, and relevant background details, then generates a well-structured email that requests an informational interview, clearly explains the purpose (such as career insights, industry advice, or company culture), expresses appreciation for their time, and suggests a brief 15-20 minute meeting format (phone, video, or in-person). You can choose between a concise or detailed style, review the draft in the panel, edit it as needed, and copy it for use in your email client.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool operates as a panel within the BotGentz browser extension, available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Brave. It works on any webpage displaying professional profiles, contact information, career backgrounds, or similar professional content. Common sources include LinkedIn, company directories, professional networking platforms, and email clients.

HOW TO USE

Navigate to any page that displays a professional profile, contact information, or career background. Open the BotGentz extension and select Informational Interview Request Drafter from the tool menu. The panel will appear on the side of your browser. Enter your full name and email address in the provided fields (these are stored locally for future use). Enter the recipient name and the purpose of the informational interview. Select your preferred meeting format (phone, video, in-person, or any) and preferred style (concise or detailed) from the dropdown menus. Click the "Draft Request" button to analyze the current page content. The tool extracts the relevant profile or contact details and sends them along with your information to the AI for processing. Within moments, you will receive a polite, professional informational interview request email in the panel. Review the draft, make any edits directly in the panel, and click the copy button to save it to your clipboard for use in your email client.

TECHNICAL SECTION — PROFESSIONAL PROFILE AND CONTACT EXTRACTION

This tool uses a specialized pipeline trained on professional networking and career communication patterns. First, it performs a hierarchical DOM traversal that prioritizes content blocks containing professional indicators such as "profile," "contact," "bio," "about," "position," "title," "company," "name," "email," "background," and "career." Second, it extracts candidate passages using a context-aware sliding window that captures both the profile text and surrounding structural markers (name fields, job titles, company names, contact details, background summaries). Third, a trained classifier assigns each passage a probability score for being part of a professional profile or contact context using features like professional language frequency ("position," "role," "company," "department," "experience"), title markers, company references, and background indicators. Fourth, the system applies semantic clustering to group related content into three core categories: the contact's name and role, the company or affiliation, and the contact's background or expertise. Finally, the structured clusters, combined with the user's provided information (name, email, recipient name, purpose, meeting format, and style preference), are passed to the AI model with a constrained prompt that instructs it to generate a complete informational interview request with standardized sections (greeting, introduction and connection to the contact's background, clear purpose statement, appreciation for their time, specific meeting format suggestion, and polite closing), reducing hallucination and ensuring a professional, contextually appropriate draft.

THE PANEL

The side panel is designed for seamless integration into your browsing workflow. You can drag it to either side of the window, and it remembers your preferred position per website. It supports snap-to-edge behavior and can be collapsed to a small tab for minimal distraction. The panel is resizable horizontally and vertically, with a minimum width of 280px and maximum of 600px. Pressing the Escape key closes the panel. All settings are saved locally.

AI-generated informational interview requests are for assistance only and should be reviewed for accuracy and appropriateness before sending, as interpretations may occasionally miss profile details or misread the contact's background. Websites change their profile page formats frequently, and extraction scripts may need periodic updates; we strive to keep the pattern library current. This tool does not store or transmit page content except for the extracted text sent to the AI API; your personal information (name, email) is stored locally in your browser and is only sent to the AI as part of the draft generation. No browsing history or personal data is collected or retained. Subscription billing is monthly and can be canceled at any time.
