WHAT IT DOES

Job Posting Summarizer reads the current page's job posting content—including title, company, description, responsibilities, requirements, and preferred qualifications—then generates a concise structured summary highlighting key role details, top requirements, and overall fit indicators. The summary helps you quickly understand the essence of a job posting without reading through lengthy descriptions, making it easier to evaluate opportunities and compare roles.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool works on any website that displays job postings, including LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Monster, CareerBuilder, company career pages, and other job boards. It automatically detects job posting content using common selectors and structure patterns. If a site uses an unusual layout, you can use manual extraction to capture the relevant text. The script runs on all websites as designated in its match patterns.

HOW TO USE

After installing the BotGentz extension and subscribing, navigate to any job posting page. Click the Job Posting Summarizer icon in your browser toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut (Alt+J). The panel will open and attempt to extract the job posting automatically. Review the extracted text in the panel and adjust your summary preferences—choose your desired length (Short, Medium, or Detailed), and toggle whether to include company info, compensation details, and deal-breaker highlighting. Click "Generate Summary" to produce a structured overview. The summary appears in the panel with key responsibilities, top requirements, and any notable red flags. Copy the summary to your clipboard with the "Copy Summary" button for use in research or comparison spreadsheets.

TECHNICAL SECTION — STRUCTURED ROLE DISTILLATION

Unlike simple text truncation or keyword highlighting, this tool uses a structured role distillation engine. It first identifies the semantic sections of the job posting—role title, company context, responsibilities, requirements, and preferences. The engine then performs a hierarchical extraction that prioritizes information based on importance: must-have requirements are weighted above nice-to-have preferences, and responsibilities are categorized by likely time allocation. The AI receives this structured context and applies a distillation process that identifies the 5-7 most critical requirements, the core responsibilities that define the role, and any conditions that would constitute deal-breakers. This produces summaries that capture not just what the role is, but what matters most about it—enabling faster, more informed job evaluation. The AI is capped at 1,024 tokens to ensure focused, concise outputs that are easy to scan.

THE PANEL

The panel is draggable anywhere on the screen and remembers its position per site. It can snap to the left, right, top, or bottom edges, or float freely. Collapse it to a small status indicator when you need more page visibility, and expand it again with a single click. Resize it vertically or horizontally to show more of the job posting or summary. Press Escape to close the panel instantly. All settings (length, company info inclusion, compensation inclusion, deal-breaker highlighting) are saved globally and persist across sessions.

Job listing websites change their layouts frequently; scripts may need updates, and we work to keep them current but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation. Job posting text is extracted from the page and sent to the AI service solely for summarization; it is not stored on our servers. You remain fully responsible for your job application decisions.
