About this app

WHAT IT DOES

Resume Tailoring Assistant reads the current page's job description content and your pasted resume text, then analyzes both to identify specific resume sections and phrases that should be modified, added, or emphasized to better match the job description. It provides targeted rewrite suggestions categorized by resume section—including summary, experience, skills, and education. This helps you customize your resume for each application quickly and effectively.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool works on any website that displays job descriptions, including LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Monster, CareerBuilder, company career pages, and other job boards. It automatically detects job description content using common selectors and structure patterns. You paste your resume text directly into the panel. The script runs on all websites as designated in its match patterns.

HOW TO USE

After installing the BotGentz extension and subscribing, navigate to any job posting page. Click the Resume Tailoring Assistant icon in your browser toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut (Alt+R). The panel will open. Click "Extract Job Description" to automatically capture the job posting content. Paste your resume text into the resume area—this is saved locally for future sessions. Set your preferences including industry context, verbosity (Concise, Balanced, Detailed), tone (Formal, Professional, Conversational), and whether to include a skill keywords section. Click "Generate Tailoring Suggestions" to analyze both documents. The tool provides specific actionable recommendations organized by resume section. Copy the suggestions to your clipboard with the "Copy Suggestions" button for use in updating your resume.

TECHNICAL SECTION — SECTION-SPECIFIC GAP ANALYSIS

Unlike generic resume checkers that scan for keyword frequency, this tool uses a section-specific gap analysis engine. It first parses both the job description and your resume into semantic sections—identifying summary statements, experience entries, skills blocks, and education. The engine then performs a cross-reference analysis that maps job requirements to existing resume content on a section-by-section basis. For each requirement, it determines whether the resume already addresses it (and how), whether it needs stronger emphasis, or whether it's completely missing. The AI receives this structured gap analysis and generates targeted rewrite suggestions that specify exactly which section to modify, what to change, and how to phrase it more effectively. This includes recommendations for bullet point rewrites, skill additions, and even summary statement adjustments. The result is a precise, actionable set of changes rather than vague advice. The AI is capped at 1,024 tokens to ensure focused, actionable suggestions.

THE PANEL

The panel is draggable anywhere on the screen and remembers its position per site. It can snap to the left, right, top, or bottom edges, or float freely. Collapse it to a small status indicator when you need more page visibility, and expand it again with a single click. Resize it vertically or horizontally to show more content. Press Escape to close the panel instantly. All settings (industry context, verbosity, tone, skills inclusion) are saved globally and persist across sessions. Your resume text is stored locally in your browser.

PLEASE NOTE

This tool requires the free BotGentz extension and an active monthly subscription to function. AI-generated tailoring suggestions are for informational purposes and should be reviewed by you before making any changes to your resume. You remain fully responsible for the content of your resume and job applications. Job posting text and your resume text are sent to the AI service solely for generating suggestions; your resume text is stored locally in your browser and is not transmitted to our servers. Job listing websites change their layouts frequently; scripts may need updates, and we work to keep them current but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation.
