WHAT IT DOES

Reference Request Drafter reads the current page's job details or user-entered information—including job title, company, relationship to the referee, and key skills or achievements—then generates a professional reference request message draft that you can review, edit, and send via email or LinkedIn. The tool helps you request references effectively by crafting personalized, contextually appropriate messages.

WHERE IT RUNS

This tool works on any webpage that displays job details or reference-related information, including job posting pages, LinkedIn profiles, email clients, and application portals. It automatically detects context from page content or accepts manual input. The script runs on all websites as designated in its match patterns.

HOW TO USE

After installing the BotGentz extension and subscribing, navigate to any page showing job details or reference information. Click the Reference Request Drafter icon in your browser toolbar or use the keyboard shortcut (Alt+F). The panel will open. Click "Extract from Page" to automatically capture the job title, company, skills, referee name, and relationship from the current page—or enter the information manually into the input fields. Choose your preferred tone (Professional, Warm, or Formal), and toggle whether to include job details and suggested points for the referee to mention. Click "Draft Request" to generate a professional reference request message. The draft appears in the panel where you can review, edit further, and then copy to your clipboard with the "Copy Draft" button. Paste the message into your email client or LinkedIn and send it.

TECHNICAL SECTION — REFERENCE REQUEST CONTEXTUALIZATION

Unlike generic reference request templates, this tool uses a reference request contextualization engine. It extracts or collects key information including the job being applied for, the relationship with the referee, and specific skills or achievements to highlight. The AI receives this structured context along with your tone and preference settings, generating a message that is both professional and appropriately personalized. The system prompt instructs the AI to craft requests that clearly explain what is needed, why the referee is well-suited to provide the reference, and what specific points to cover. It can also include suggested talking points to make it easier for the referee to write a strong recommendation. This approach produces reference requests that are more likely to receive positive, thorough responses.

THE PANEL

The panel is draggable anywhere on the screen and remembers its position per site. It can snap to the left, right, top, or bottom edges, or float freely. Collapse it to a small status indicator when you need more page visibility, and expand it again with a single click. Resize it vertically or horizontally to show more of the job details or draft. Press Escape to close the panel instantly. All settings (tone, include job details, include suggested points, signature) are saved globally and persist across sessions.

You remain fully responsible for all communications sent to referees and potential employers. Job and referee information is extracted from the page or entered manually and sent to the AI service solely for generating your draft; it is not stored on our servers. No messages are sent automatically—you maintain full control over every message you send.
